Prioritizing Solutions & Defining Success
-
Importance
Following the initial user research, this stage focused on translating insights into actionable solutions. However, based on my tutor’s feedback, I refined the focus in Stage 3 to prioritize solutions that not only enhanced the user experience but also addressed the core challenge of increasing contributor engagement.
-
Challenges & Solutions
Balancing User Needs & Business Goals: We needed to consider solutions that addressed both user needs (e.g., expanded filtering) and the business objective of increasing the contributor base and volume of contributions.
Shifting Focus: While the initial solution of "Expanding Filtering Capabilities" had merit, exploring alternative solutions that directly incentivized user contributions showed more potential in the long run.
-
What Went Well
Data-Driven Approach: The user research findings provided a strong foundation for prioritizing features that directly addressed user pain points.
Openness to Feedback: Recognizing the tutor's insights allowed for course correction and a more effective solution and long-term strategy.
-
Areas for Improvement
Contributor Focus: While the initial approach of expanding filtering capabilities prioritized user experience, future iterations should prioritize solutions that directly motivate users to contribute more frequently.
Metrics Refinement: Refine the success metrics to not only measure user engagement with the filtering tool but also track the impact on contributor growth and contribution volume.

Moving Forward
With a renewed focus on contributor engagement, the next stage will involve brainstorming solutions that incentivize users to contribute more content to MakeYourMaps.
